Our special thanks to John & Kath Blackett of Mungeon Farm, they were the first local landowners to give Lakeland Gundog Club the permission to run training classes on their ground. Without them the Club would not have even survived, with their support and generosity the club goes from strength to strength. Thank you John and Kath, we are eternally grateful, and consider ourselves truly lucky to have such beautiful grounds to train our dogs.
Please see their website (under construction) www.ottertarn.com 5* Lakeland retreats.
Our special thanks to Mr & Mrs Sandys of Graythwaite Hall that has been their Sandys’ family home for over 500 years. They are actively involved with the estate and community and are very supportive to Lakeland Gundog Club generously giving us permission to train our gundogs in Dale Park, part of the estate. We use this ground regularly for our HPR and Labrador training sessions and run our ‘start of term’ training and ‘end of term’ tests days on this ground. The local farmer Mr Richard Walker also supports us and allows us to access the lower grounds of Dale Park, so we are able to enjoy the access to woodland, rashes, hills and streams offering different terrains to challenge the dogs.
Netherwood Hotel is a beautiful Grade II listed Victorian mansion offering the perfect combination of old world charm and all the essential modern facilities and comforts. Perfectly situated amidst 15 acres of woodland and landscaped gardens, and blessed with breath-taking views across the Morecambe Bay estuary. The owners of the Netherwood Hotel, Mr & Mrs Fallowfield are great dog lovers, and they allow us to train across their land adjacent to Mungeon Farm. Our thanks also to Mr George Barker of Stribers Farm who grazes his stock on the land - both Mr and Mrs Fallowfield and Mr Barker are supportive of the Club and we appreciate it.
Thank you to Mr Tom Wilkinson for giving us permission to train on the lands surrounding the Hall. We’ve enjoyed live game training days there with hospitality from the gamekeeper. Bigland Hall also supports our out of season training events on the land. We were grateful of the kind offer to use the old clay ground shoot shed in which to have our raffle, coffee and cakes. This was very much appreciated when spending a day out training in the Lake District ‘summer’ weather.
Our grateful thanks go to Mr John Chaplin for allowing us to train on his land This is especially valuable as we train there straight after the shooting season finishes and there is still game and game scent around which adds to the distraction levels when training both the Spaniel and HPR groups.
John's daughter, Charlotte Dean makes stylish shooting waistcoats from specially woven tweed made from the Herdwicks which graze their land.
Our grateful thanks to Roy Cullen who is an A Panel Field Trial Judge of HPRs. Roy has bred and trained several field trial award-winning dogs and owns the famous Maplehaze kennel of German Wirehaired Pointers. Roy offers expert tuition to Lakeland Gundogs Clubs HPR’s and Labradors.
Roy also organises shot over days for the club and provides plenty of opportunity for participants to practice on a variety of cold game.

Special thanks to Andrew and Fiona, they have both been involved and supported the Club since it began. In fact, Andrew trained the spaniels on the launch day of LGC on 5 June 2011.
Andrew and Fiona own the well known kennel, Whaupley Gundogs, specialising in cocker spaniels. Andrew is on the A panel of the Kennel Club field trial judges and has made up Field Trial Champions and gained field trial awards and wins with cockers in the UK.
